Penta Architectural lights up the Vessel, the extraordinary centerpiece of “Hudson Yards”. The heart of it is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. This interactive artwork was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city and one another from different heights, angles and vantage points.

Comprised of 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs — almost 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings – the vertical climb offers remarkable views of the city, the river and beyond.

The Italian constructor, Cimolai Group, trusted the well-known experience of Penta Architectural light for the realization of the external illumination of the Vessel.

Thanks to its high quality product and flexibility, Penta Architectural is able to project and produce very complex lighting systems, to be adapted to any kind of area.

For the Vessel, Penta Architectural Light designed a new LED stripe profile, which can be fit on a stainless steel handrail with an anti-glaze protection.

Two kilometers (1.3 miles) of light follow the geometry of the Vessel, reflecting it on the bronze structure and creating a soft spectacular effect of light.
